FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What happens in the first session?
Your first session is an initial consultation, usually up to an hour. It's a chance for us to talk through what's brought you to therapy, for you to ask any questions, and for us both to get a sense of whether we're a good fit to work together. There's no obligation to continue afterwards.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. Sessions are confidential in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. The only exceptions are rare situations involving serious risk to your safety or someone else's, which I would always try to discuss with you first wherever possible.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes — alongside in-person sessions in New Malden, I offer secure video sessions for clients anywhere in the UK who prefer or need to work remotely.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends entirely on you and what you're working through. I offer both open-ended, ongoing therapy and shorter, time-limited work. We'll talk about what feels right during your initial consultation, and can revisit this as we go.
What approach do you use?
I work integratively, drawing on CBT, EMDR, Psychodynamic and Existential therapy. Rather than fitting you to one method, I aim to draw on whichever approach — or combination — best supports what you need.
What is EMDR and is it right for me?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy, particularly effective for trauma and distressing memories that feel 'stuck'. We can discuss during your consultation whether it's likely to be a good fit for what you're bringing to therapy.
What are your fees and how do I pay?
Please see the Fees page for current session pricing. Payment is by bank transfer or card. I ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations.
How do I get started?
Get in touch via the contact form or by phone, and we'll arrange your initial consultation.
